An Overview of the M-Bus Module
The M-Bus module is a plug-and-play communication module that fits inside the Diehl Sharky 775 heat meter, enabling meter data to be read remotely over a wired M-Bus network. M-Bus (Meter-Bus) is a European standard for remote reading of utility meters, widely used in district heating, communal heating, and building management applications.
Once installed, the Sharky 775 automatically detects the module on startup. No additional commissioning or configuration is required — simply install the module, connect the two-wire M-Bus line, and the meter is ready to communicate.
- Plug-and-play installation — no configuration required
- Compatible with Diehl Sharky 775
- Fits into either internal module slot
- Two-wire M-Bus connection
- Polarity-independent wiring
- Automatic detection by the meter on startup
- Suitable for wired M-Bus networks in district and communal heating applications

Before You Begin
Before installing the M-Bus module, ensure the following are in place:
- Diehl Sharky 775 heat meter installed and accessible
- A wired M-Bus network with a two-wire M-Bus line run to the meter location
- An M-Bus master or data logger connected to the network
- The meter is powered down before opening the housing
Installation
Step 1 — Open the meter housing
Carefully remove the top part of the meter housing from the meter base to expose the internal module slots.
Step 2 — Select a module slot
The Sharky 775 has two internal module slots. The M-Bus module can be fitted into either available slot.
Step 3 — Insert the module
Push the M-Bus module straight down into the chosen slot until it firmly clicks into place on the circuit board. Ensure the module is fully seated with no movement.
Step 4 — Connect the M-Bus wiring
Attach the two-wire M-Bus line to the 2-pole terminal strip on the module. The terminals are marked 24 and 25. The connection is not polarity-conscious — positive and negative orientation does not matter.
Step 5 — Reassemble the housing
Snap the top part of the meter housing back onto the base securely, ensuring it is fully closed.
Step 6 — Power on and verify
Power the meter back on. The Sharky 775 will automatically detect the M-Bus module on startup. No further configuration is required. Verify that the meter is visible on your M-Bus master or data logger.
