Mounting
Elvaco Edge has several mounting options. A wall mounting kit is supplied, so the unit can be fixed straight to a wall or hung on the supplied bayonet mount. A pole mount is available as an optional accessory.
Wall mounted enclosure
The enclosure can be fixed to a wall with four screws, using the template on the box for the hole positions. The mounting holes are 4.5 mm in diameter and accept screw heads up to 9 mm across.
Bayonet mount
Fix the bayonet mount to the wall or other surface with at least two screws, at the angle shown in the drill template so the gateway sits correctly. Then attach the gateway by turning it 45 degrees clockwise.
Pole mount
Elvaco Edge can be fitted to a pole, for example a light pole outdoors. The pole mount suits diameters from 50 to 250 mm and is bought separately. Installation takes two steps:
- Secure the pole mount to the pole.
- Attach the gateway using the integrated bayonet system.
The bayonet system makes fitting and removal quick.
Power supply
- Connect the mains supply to the spring terminals marked L and N. The supply must be 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.
- Secure the cable so there is strain relief.
- Fit a clearly marked, easily reached switch in the supply so the unit can be isolated for maintenance or service.
MBus
MBus is a two wire bus with no polarity, and many meters can share it. Every slave on the bus needs a unique primary or secondary address, depending on the addressing mode. Use cable of 0.25 to 1.5 mm2, for example standard telephone cable (EKKX 2x2x0.5), and connect it to the MBus master terminal. Use a cable tie for strain relief on any cable that leaves the enclosure.
Antennas
Elvaco Edge has good internal antennas, so an external antenna is not always needed. It depends on the surroundings of the gateway.
Cellular antenna
The gateway has an internal cellular antenna. If reception needs improving, connect an external antenna to the MCX connector. When an external antenna is used, set which antenna is active in the gateway with the Elvaco OTC app.
Wireless MBus antenna
Some models have an internal antenna only, and others can use either an internal or an external antenna to improve wireless MBus reception. The hardware differs between these models, so an internal only gateway cannot be changed later to use an external antenna. Choose the active antenna through NFC with the Elvaco Play app.
Cable wiring
The enclosure has a foam seal that lets cables pass in without extra cable glands.
- Press the cable through the foam to the right diameter, until you hear a click.
- Make sure the foam seals again once the cable is through.
- Cut the knockout in the lid for a better cable fit, along the marks.
Tamper protection
The enclosure can be sealed against tampering. The lid and tray can be fastened together with an anti tamper seal.
