Before you start
- Above 60 °C media temperature, shield the flow sensor from unintended contact.
- Connecting a 230 V supply carries a risk of electric shock, so isolate the supply first.
- Working on the flow sensor means working on a pipe at 16 or 25 bar, with a risk of hot water escaping under pressure.
- Mount the calculator indoors, between 5 and 55 °C, in a non condensing location, and keep signal cables at least 25 cm away from other installations.
Installation order
- Mount the flow sensor, horizontally, vertically or at an angle. The DN of the meter should match the pipe, and one size up or down is acceptable. For cooling, mount at 0 degrees for qp 0.6 to 2.5 m³/h and at 45 degrees for larger sizes.
- Mount the temperature sensors, with t1 in the inlet and t2 in the outlet, and fit the seals.
- Mount the calculator on the flow sensor or on the wall bracket, and connect the ULTRAFLOW cables, with blue as negative, red as positive and yellow as signal.
- Fit the supply module, either a battery or a mains module, and any communication modules.
- Run the function test and check the INFO digits on the display.
Configuration
Basic settings are made from the three front keys. Full configuration is done with the Kamstrup READy software or METERTOOL HCW and the USB configuration cable, and the optical read out head holds the connection to the meter.

> 60 °C
At a media temperature higher than 60 °C, the flow sensor should be shielded from
unintended contact.
230 VAC
When connecting to a 230 V supply, there is a risk of electric shock.
16/25 bar
When working on the flow sensor in the installation, there is a risk of outflow of (hot)
water under pressure.

Directions marked with can be used if the prerequisites below are met:
1 District heating water must be pure and not contain impurities. In a given case,
impurities can cover the transducers of the flow sensors, which affects their
abilities to register and send the ultrasound signal.
2 District heating water must be free of air. Air bubbles affect the ultrasound
signal significantly.
