The MULTICAL 603 shows its status in the INFO row on the display. The row has eight digits for Info, t1, t2, t3, V1, V2, In A and In B. A zero means no fault, and any other digit is an information code for that position.
Reading the display
Press the front key to reach the INFO row. A code for a position is shown as its digit in that position, so an Info digit of 2 means low battery and a t1 digit of 2 means the t1 sensor is below range or short circuited.
Information codes
| Position | Digit | Meaning | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Info | 1 | No voltage supply | Check the supply module, mains connection or battery |
| Info | 2 | Low battery level | Replace the battery module |
| Info | 9 | External alarm, for example set over KMP | Check what raised the alarm in the connected system |
| t1, t2 or t3 | 1 | Above measuring range or switched off | Check the sensor, connection and wiring |
| t1, t2 or t3 | 2 | Below measuring range or short circuited | Check the sensor for a short circuit or damaged cable |
| t1 and t2 | 9 | Invalid temperature difference | Check the sensors are fitted in the correct inlet and outlet |
| V1 or V2 | 1 | Communication error | Check the ULTRAFLOW cable and terminal connections |
| V1 or V2 | 2 | Wrong pulse figure | Check the pulse figure and qp match the flow sensor |
| V1 or V2 | 3 | Air in the flow sensor | Vent the system and check the sensor position |
| V1 or V2 | 4 | Wrong flow direction | Check the flow sensor arrow against the flow direction |
| V1 or V2 | 6 | Increased flow above qs for more than one hour | Check for a fault or a leak downstream |
| V1 and V2 | 7 | Burst, as flow 1 is larger than flow 2 (water loss) or smaller (water penetration) | Inspect the system for a burst pipe |
| V1 and V2 | 8 | Leakage, as mass 1 is larger than mass 2 (water loss) or smaller (water penetration) | Inspect the system for a leak |
| In A | 7, 8 or 9 | Leakage in the system on pulse input A (7 or 8), or external alarm (9) | Check the device connected to pulse input A |
| In B | 7, 8 or 9 | Leakage in the system on pulse input B (7 or 8), or external alarm (9) | Check the device connected to pulse input B |
Information codes are configurable, so not every code is available in every meter.
Info logger
Each time the code changes the meter stores it with the date. The last 250 changes can be read with METERTOOL HCW, and the last 50 are shown on the display. This helps to find faults that come and go, such as air in the flow sensor.
Quick approach
- Note the digit and position of every code in the INFO row.
- Fix supply faults first, as a low battery or lost supply can cause other codes.
- For t codes, check the sensor wiring and the inlet and outlet positions.
- For V codes, check the ULTRAFLOW cable, flow arrow and system for air.
- If a code stays after the fix, read the info logger to see when it started.
