The MULTICAL 403 shows its status in the INFO row on the display. The digits stand for Info, t1, t2, V1, In A and In B, and a zero means no fault. Any other digit is an information code for that position.
Information codes
| Position | Digit | Meaning | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Info | 1 | Supply voltage is missing | Check the supply module, mains connection or battery |
| Info | 2 | Low battery level | Replace the battery |
| Info | 9 | External alarm, for example set over KMP | Check what raised the alarm |
| t1 or t2 | 1 | Above measuring range or disconnected | Check the sensor and its connection |
| t1 or t2 | 2 | Below measuring range or short circuited | Check the sensor for a short circuit or damaged cable |
| t1 and t2 | 9 | Invalid temperature difference | Check the sensors are in the correct inlet and outlet |
| V1 | 3 | Air in the flow sensor | Vent the system |
| V1 | 4 | Wrong flow direction | Check the flow arrow against the flow direction |
| V1 | 6 | Flow above qs for more than one hour | Check for a fault or a leak downstream |
| In A | 8 or 9 | Leakage in the system (8) or external alarm (9) on pulse input A | Check the connected device |
| In B | 8 or 9 | Leakage in the system (8) or external alarm (9) on pulse input B | Check the connected device |
Information codes are configurable, so not every code is available in every meter. Codes 8 and 9 on the pulse inputs are on the 403 only.
Info logger
Each time the code changes the meter stores it with the date. The last 50 changes can be read, which helps to find faults that come and go.
Quick approach
- Note the digit and position of every code in the INFO row.
- Fix supply faults first, as a low battery or lost supply can cause other codes.
- For t codes, check the sensor wiring and the inlet and outlet positions.
- For V1 codes, vent the system and check the flow arrow.
- If a code stays after the fix, read the info logger to see when it started.
