The MBus Splitter sits between a group of MBus meters and two MBus masters. The meters connect to the IN terminals. The two masters connect to OUT1 and OUT2. Each master can then read the meters individually, as if it were the only master on the bus.
Applications
Sharing a main meter
Property owners with monitoring often need to read the main meter, which the energy company also reads over MBus. The splitter gives each party its own connection to the same meter.
Meters with no shared output
On many meters, including most MBus water meters, the MBus output cannot be shared. Some meters offer sharing, but only with manufacturer specific configuration at site. The splitter solves this for any meter, without expensive installation or complicated configuration.
How it works
- The meters connect to the MBus IN terminals. Each meter needs a unique primary address between 1 and 250.
- On power up the splitter charges for up to 5 minutes, then scans the meter loop automatically.
- Each master reads the meters through its own output. OUT2 must always be connected because it provides power to the splitter.
- The LEDs show the number of meters found, whether a readout is taking place and whether there is a fault on the bus.
