The CMa30 connects to the MBus with a pluggable screw terminal. MBus is a two wire bus with no polarity, so the two wires can go on either way round, and meters can be wired in a multi drop layout along the same pair.
Before you connect
- Every MBus slave on the bus needs its own unique primary or secondary address, depending on the addressing mode you use
- The CMa30 handles up to 30 slaves, and if the bus is overloaded the ERR LED comes on and the MBus is switched off
Steps
- Install the drivers on the laptop, see Installing Drivers
- Wire the MBus pair to the screw terminal on the CMa30
- Plug the CMa30 into a USB port on the laptop
- Open your MBus reading software and select the COM port the CMa30 was given
- Select the baud rate to match the meters and start a scan
If the LEDs do not behave as expected, see Parts Overview and LED Indications and Troubleshooting.
